Bunk Beds and Bacon

Where have I been for the past three weeks? Obsessed. That's where. :) We are in the final stages of transitioning the girls into bunk beds. (I'm actually typing this on Megan's computer while they are trying to fall asleep for the first night in their new beds!) It's slow going but I kinda knew that it would be. Change is never easy. Sometimes it's fun and exciting, but still a little overwhelming and scary.

So this has been a crazy process, one that we didn't intend to start until closer to the holidays, but once I get an idea in my head I can think of little else until I see it through completion. In two weeks I bought new furniture, sold Allison's old furniture on craigslist, emptied the toy room, painted the toy room 'powder pink', moved Megan's furniture into Allisons, moved all of the toys into Megan's room, painted a bookshelf, etc. etc. etc. And when I say final stages, my projects left include: painting wooden knobs for their dressers, buying a few more things to decorate, and painting some more stuff. Like the top drawer on Megan's desk that I painted last year for Christmas to match her old room.

And at this exact moment Megan is climbing down to sleep with Allison in the bottom bunk. :) We'll see how this goes.

Also in the past few weeks, Megan has decided to become a vegetarian. Bless her heart. She is as stubborn as a mule. She has decided that it's cruel to kill animals to eat them so she has been refusing meat for a while now. Even at restaurants (a.k.a McDonalds) she orders a salad. But tonight she broke. I made Mark BLTs. And then Allison wanted some bacon. And then Megan said she wanted some. I said, "You know it's meat right?" Now obviously I don't care if she eats it or not, but I just don't want her yelling at me later that I gave her meat and she "didn't know."

So, she thought about it for a minute and decided that she will be a vegetarian who eats bacon. :) Can you blame her!?!?!

And there's some other stuff going on too but will save that for another blog. I'm going to sneak out of their room now (which they appropriately named The BUNK BED room!) even though I could sit here all night listening to them talk sweetly to each other.

Toe Eyeballs

Okay so for the past week or two Megan has been cracking jokes (mainly about me!) involving different body parts on eyeballs. "You have arm eyeballs." For example. But I got stuck with the lucky TOE eyeballs. She thinks this is hilarious. So I pretend to be irritated about it, which she thoroughly enjoys.

I thought this was just a five minute thing and she'd forget about it, but now that she thinks I don't like it, she loves it. She came home from school the other day and said, "Mommy, I told ALL of my friends that you have TOE eyeballs!!" Thanks Megan. :)

So this afternoon the girls were eating some yummy Rice Krispy bars when Allison spilled her green koolaid ALL over. So while I was cleaning up I said, "You girls sure keep me on my toes." And Allison says, "We keep you on your toe EYEBALLS." :)

They seriously crack me up.

Random ramblings before my battery dies...

This week has been a bit insane - Megan started summer school (Kindergarten Here We Come!) and swimming lessons. She likes both - the latter more, but who wouldn't!?!?
We've been to the pool a few times already - I LOVE having a pass and taking the girls. Now we just need to get Mark to come with! Tonight we swam in the big pool. Megan even jumped in all by herself...progress!!!
And they had their pictures taken yesterday - in their ballerina outfits. (They haven't started ballet lessons yet but start in July.) So the photographer tells them to show her some dance moves and they both try to balance on one foot. Not quite graceful, but definitely cute!!!
Tomorrow is more craziness and then Friday we are camping! I can't wait to sit around the fire and eat SMORES. :)

Happy Day

What was great about today?!?! Lots....
It was a GORGEOUS day outside.
My girls gave me the cutest, silliest birds who are "puckering up" to put in my rock garden. They are all about the lawn ornaments this year - I got shiny butterflies for Mother's Day!!
We went to a new place for lunch, Picnic Point in Madison, and had a really nice afternoon with friends. The kids played in the beach, Ruby peed on my shoes (LOL), and we found beach glass. The girls are looking forward to using it for some craft project. I'm thinking it might be cool to use when we make garden stones at Toddler Time.
Mark moved the washing machine and low and behold....THERE were my DIAMONDS!! They've only been under there for a year and a half. Hopefully he'll bring me home a new chain tomorrow!
My friend T invited me out for birthday cocktails. And the bartender gave us a free shot b/c it was my birthday. It was nice to just chill and drink and converse.
And I enjoyed all of the phone calls, facebook messages and cards - they kept me smiling all day long!! :)
Happy, Happy Birthday for me!

Birthday Blog!

Tomorrow is my birthday. Hip hip hooray!! :) My mom took my girls shopping today, so I can't wait to see what they picked out for me, and they made me birthday brownies. YUM! The only other thing I'm hoping for is that Mark will move the washing machine and the dryer to see if my diamonds are under there somewhere.
Thirty-two...here I come!!! :)

Today Consisted of....

* Waking up from a dream about Kindergarten - Megan's teacher's name was Ms. Floaty-Doaty and I forgot to pack a lunch or send lunch money. I am sooo not ready for this!!!

* Mark fishing with my dad super early.

* The girls and I having lunch with my mom at Fiesta Cancun. Super good.

* My mom loaning me her sewing machine. Should be interesting!

* Watching Megan's preschool graduation video again with Mom and Dad. And tearing up again. And laughing at my mom tearing up over me tearing up. :)

* Making Rice Krispie treats. Super good too.

* Reading books on the couch.

* Drinking two glasses of wine after settling the girls into Megan's room for a slumber party! Also quite tasty.

And now I'm completely wired and watching Titanic on TNT. Good day. :)

Soooo much!

Everytime I start to blog I'm so not sure where to start that I just decide not to. It's been a rollercoaster of a couple of weeks for us. Mark's mom wasa admitted to the hospital b/c her doctor thought the cancer had spread to her liver - one doctor even told her it was terminal. (Before doing a biopsy, which came back benign. THANK GOD). She's still in the hospital, but we were immensely relieved to get those results today.

Last week was Megan's last week of school. She graduated from preschool last Thursday night and it was seriously the cutest graduation ceremony ever. I was super emotional to begin with, so of course I cried. She was so stinkin' cute in her little cap and gown!!!! Now we only have 1 1/2 weeks before kindergarten orientation.

And I am determined to have a ton of fun this summer!!! I'm excited about camping, the pool opening, family get togethers, the 4th of July, running through the sprinkler, possibly canoeing down Sugar River again with Mark, eating lots of BLTs and sweet corn, seeing what comes up from my garden, little town festivals and just hanging out.
